The social media comparison trap

We’ve all seen videos of a 10 week old puppy learning 20 tricks in two weeks.

Which just makes you feel totally inadequate because it feels like your puppy has only just learned its name.

Please don’t compare yourself to people on social media.

If they’re showing off the things their puppy has learned, you can rest assured they’ve trained at least one dog before and they know what they’re doing.

Don’t compare you and your puppy to what you see on social media – real life doesn’t have a filter!

It’s ok to focus on the simple things like engagement and relationship building by playing games and getting to know each other – all the other stuff will come in time.

And honestly, if all your puppy can do is respond to its name, that‘s more important than knowing how to do 20 tricks.
